CoPE Paediatric Emergency 2.0.1

The Copenhagen Paediatric Emergency (CoPE) App is designed to assist clinicians in the management of acute, life-threatening conditions in pediatric patients. Its primary purpose is to facilitate rapid access to critical information during emergency situations.

By inputting a child's weight and age, users can quickly access the relevant guideline sheet with a simple tap of the 'OK' button. The app contains 31 guideline sheets, each corresponding to a specific body weight—from newborns weighing as little as 3 kg to children up to 10 years old at approximately 33 kg.

The app provides vital data on normal physiological values, recommended equipment for initial A-B-C stabilization, as well as guidelines on appropriate drugs, dosages, and fluid boluses. Additionally, it includes quick-reference standards from the European Resuscitation Council's Newborn Life Support and Paediatric Advanced Life Support guidelines.

Developed by senior consultant paediatric anaesthesiologist Morten Bøttger and senior consultant anaesthesiologist Michael Friis Tvede from the Department of Anaesthesia at the Centre of Head and Orthopaedics, Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, Denmark, CoPE aims to support healthcare providers in urgent pediatric care scenarios.

The app is an international (English-language) adaptation of the Danish app Akut Barn, initially launched in 2012. It has been generously supported by The TrygFonden Foundation and continues to be regularly updated to ensure clinical relevance and accuracy.
